This week, I waded into the lovely, welcoming world of Substack Notes, and if you are so inclined, I would invite you to join me there, too.
Like many writers and journalists I know, Twitter has been my main social media platform for many, many years — for me, especially since the Orange Menace’s ascent to and descent from (TBTG) the White House, it is where I’ve spent probably too much of my time but with the intent of listening to and learning from others about the state of our world.
Since Elmo (not Elmo, but I don’t want to Voldemort him into an appearance here) purchased the Bird Site, things are changing and not in a good way. There have been many other attempts to offer alternatives to Twitter, and I think I’ve joined them all, but none, until Notes, has felt like a viable alternative.
To my sensibilities, Notes is a breath of fresh air. And it functions in much of the positive ways that the Bird Site has. It’s a conversation. And so far, most people I’ve encountered are behaving themselves.
You might find it life-giving. If you do, please come find me.
Notes is a new space on Substack for us to share links, short posts, quotes, photos, and more. I plan to use it for things that don’t fit in the newsletter, like work-in-progress or quick questions.
How to join
Head to substack.com/notes or find the “Notes” tab in the Substack app. As a subscriber to Cathleen Falsani: This Numinous World, you’ll automatically see my notes. Feel free to like, reply, or share them around!
You can also share notes of your own. I hope this becomes a space where every reader of Cathleen Falsani: This Numinous World can share thoughts, ideas, and interesting quotes from the things we're reading on Substack and beyond.
If you encounter any issues, you can always refer to the Notes FAQ for assistance. Looking forward to seeing you there!
