The seeds planted in my heart by a professor whose passion for words was matched by the ardor with which he tended majestic gardens, blossomed into a love of poetry that continues to shape my world.
Planting and poetry...two of the best mystical pursuits with their leaps of faith, and also for the reasons Professor Hein mentioned in the garden: peace, medicine, hard to put into words. May his memory be a blessing.
Loved this reflection. I came to poetry late in life. I actually hosted Pádraig Ó Tuama once in my home for a reading and it was transformative. Then spent a week with David Whyte in the Lake District. Now I can't get enough of it. And yes to Mary Oliver. I am going to look into some of the other titles you mentioned as well.
This is simply beautiful ❤️....tilling the soil, growing the soul ❤️❤️❤️

Beautiful. That Frost line "All simply in the springing of the year" is perfect. That "springing" gerund is aural.
Thank you for telling me about Dr. Hein. You "grew" eloquent, twice.
A wonderful ode to a great influence, whose life lives on through you, Cathleen.
